| | Birds chirped peacefully overhead as sunlight filtered down in slanting rays from a well-lit sky in the mid afternoon sunshine. The forest was alive and serene, the time of trouble passed and the time for worrying about the next Blue Moon still too far in the future to be concerned with at present. Vestain's black body sidled with ease in and out of the tree trunks, like a snake slithering its way to and fro in those long, s-like curves of theirs. His blue eyes took in everything, from the squirrels darting up nearby trunks to the falling nutshells dropped by birds up in the foliage. The world was teeming with life around him, small perhaps, but life all the same. He still felt relatively alone out here, though, he noted wearily. He always felt rather alone, it would seem. Well, except when he had been so fortunate as to have the white mare come across his path. How happenstance that had been, he recalled. It would be his luck to have an unexpected angel cross his way just when he entered territory expressly off limits to the like of him. Delaney was something else, something to be pondered and held carefully for her fragility. Too firm a grip and she would compress into herself and fall right out of reach, an ethereal presence. She awakened something in him, some hidden desire deep within that he'd never known he'd had until she had bid it stir. He wished he could see her again, just to be sure he hadn't dreamed the entire scene up in his head. As he roamed, he caught the sound of twigs snapping and leaves crunching nearby. Somebody else was lurking in the vicinity. Hardly surprising, as here in Minanter were situated the most bounteous herd of horses. If his conversation and time with Delaney really were substantial and not only a figment of his imagination, then she had offered to raise to him to a higher rank, he recalled. The Anderfels waited for him. He found himself strolling through as a last farewell to the forest he'd made home when he'd first arrived in Blue Moon lands. It had served him as well as it could, but its usefulness had run out and he'd been proposed a better offer. He flicked his ears to and fro, waiting for a horse to appear. He halted, waiting patiently although his mind was elsewhere.

| SIOUXSIE I live in another world where life and death are memorized Where the earth is strung with lover's pearls and all I see are dark eyes
Siouxsie could not find her sister. Her ill-tempered guardian, the one other creature in the world with some of Siouxsie's genetics, and some of her familial spunk. More than that though, Siouxsie had trouble navigating Minanter. So cold, so blinding. She'd retreated into the forest just to give her eyes a break.
Soon, she saw another creature, something soft and dark. A living shadow moving through the branches. Sioux licked her lips, and narrowed her eyes so she could discern more of the scene. Finally, when she was sure that she had taken in her surroundings, the heavily built mare moved forward. Patches of sun that filtered through the trees banked on her chocolate brown body, making her back seem as molted as her face. She looked at the other equine expectantly, waiting for him to speak, or move first.

| | Vestain saw her, brown and fluid in the midst of the forest, but clearly visible to he who saw everything. She cautiously approached, and he pricked his ears toward her in interest, wondering what she would want. Even as she neared, his thoughts were intermingled with lingering musings of Delaney. He missed her even though he'd only just seen her, longed to tame that unbridled sadness looming in her ghostly eyes. Whatever had happened to her, he could not believe she deserved it. She deserved someone to ease her aches, soothe her pain, and show her comfort....something he was more than willing to provide, he realized. He'd never felt drawn to someone else like this, and it was earth-shaking. He shook his head, tossing his loosely tendril'ed mane as he did so, and tried to refocus on this newcomer, a chocolatey mare who seemed to have some troubles of her own. She seemed distracted, but as if she were trying to focus on him despite that. He stepped toward her, acknowledging that he was aware of her presence while simultaneously signifying he was not attempting to hide his own. She seemed ever so hesitant, and he decided he couldn't blame her. In Minanter there was an overflow of horses whose motives could not be pinpointed. Some of the horses one might see roaming through this forest would someday be the same haunting face of a Shade flashing before one's eyes...the thought was unnerving. He pushed it aside, not stopping to think this mare could suffer that fate. 'Hello, there.' He called out, unsure of how to broach her. 'Not to be too affronting, but you seemed troubled...'
