Rixan is Torak's son. And before BMH, Torak was the leader of the herd where he lived. He wasn't a very good leader though. Murder and rape happened daily, and Torak didn't care, in fact he encouraged it. All the mares in the herd were his, and he 'took care' of them. Rixan is the only son of Torak and Ce'Nedra his mother. Ce'Nedra was the only mare Torak loved, though in a pretty violent way, he still loved her. Ce'Nedra was a gorgeous white mare, and Torak just couldn't take his eyes off of her. Ce'Nedra grew to love Torak as well, though she didn't have an other choice... It was either that or be killed. Torak never loved Rixan, never. He hated him from the moment he was born, but because Ce'Nedra insisted he wouldn't be a nuisance, he let him live. His worst mistake ever. Rixan turned bad pretty quick, and one day tried to murder his father, by throwing him off a cliff. Rixan hated the way his father ruled the heard, and wanted to end it by killing every single horse in it. Torak survived though, and with broken body he walked up the cliff searching for his only love.. His only care. Ce'Nedra. When he came to the cave, white mane flowed out of the entrance. Blood still dripped from the tips of her mane and Torak fell to his knees, full with grief and hate. He then swore to seek revenge on the stallion who did this.. Which is ofcourse Rixan.. And we don't know when yet, but soon he'll succeed.

So.. that's his story. Though it continues here in BMH. He seeked out the leader of the shades and joined them. He needed the power and the fact that shades live forever, because his days were numbered. He didn't know at the time that he would slowly forget every thing that was ever dear to him. Even the reason why he became a shade in the first place. Sometimes he can't even remember how he got the red ribbons in his mane.. Still, he knows they're important, so he treasures them like his life depends on it.
