Begin van eerste postje met Rayall

Dot was zijn eerste dag hier in BMH, het gebied waar zijn moeder blijkt te leven. Zijn spierwitte benen met de gestippelde aftekeningen draafde met een uitgestrekte en krachtige draf door het hoge gras. Ze gouden manen danste op het ritme van de wind en zijn staart, die ook een gouden kleur bezat zweefde golvend achter hem aan. Zijn hoeven waren verborgen in het gras en zijn armband aan het bovenste gedeelte van zijn rechter voorbeen, glimde in het zonlicht.

Rayall was in een stam terecht gekomen die bepaalde rituele volgde. Zoals een gouden ring in je oor wanneer je iemand had gered. Wanneer hij daar net was aangekomen was een veulen in gevaar, ze werd achtervolgd door een krachtige leeuwin. Met alle kracht die hij toen in zijn lijf had jaagde hij het roofdier weg. Al gauw aanvaarde de leider hem als gamma tot zijn groep. Hierdoor kreeg hij een gouden ring zijn oor ingeboord. Wanneer hij de dochter van de leider had bevrucht een jaar geleden werd hij direct verbannen. Hij rende weg en rukte zelf de ring uit zijn oor. Hierdoor heeft hij nu een V in zijn oor staan.

Heel zijn buik is getekend door littekens en het ziet er zelfs verminkt uit. Allemaal kapotte huid en vacht. Hij had nu zijn verbanning geen idee naar waar hij zou moeten, maar op een zekere dag schoot het hem weer te binnen. Hij was het eerste veulen van Delaney, zijn moeder. Nu was hij bereid haar weer op te zoeken en zijn leventje verder door te brengen in het gebied waar zijn nu leeft. Hij had al opgevangen dat hij nu meerdere broertjes en zusjes had, maar trok hij zich niks van aan. De woorden van de wijze merrie in zijn vorige kudde schoten hem weer te binnen. "De plek weer je moeder en je zus leeft is ook niet veilig mijn vriend." Rayall had geen idee over welke zus het ging, en over welk gevaar. Toch was hij er van overtuigd dat hij daar naar toe wou. Weer naar de prachtige, zorgzame merrie die hij zijn moeder mocht noemen.

Echter ging hij er niet naar toe voor zijn onbekende zusje en zijn moeder, neen, hij wou ook nieuwe paarden leren kennen, nieuwe vrienden en ook een nieuw leven starten. Hij had een slecht leven opgebouwd. Met slechte paarden omgegaan en dus ook in dat slechte milieu terecht gekomen. De witte hengst met zijn grijze aftekeningen sprak er liever niet over, maar hij wist dat het er ooit wel eens van zou komen.
